Ants! i hate ants!!

so we have an ant problem, Jake and i went away for the weekend up to Arizona with some friends and we came back to an ant nest living in our backyard, crawling all over our floors, and eating our dog treats. it took Jake and i an hour to vacuum them up just so we could sit at the desk and not have ants crawling everywhere. it was really funny to watch my husband run everywhere vacuuming the walls, the dog kennel, the desk, the computer. i wasnt much help but to point in the direction of which he needed to vacuum next...just thinking about it sends chills down my spine :) we got some poison and set it out and they went away, but they keep coming back. if anyone knows of a good way to get rid of ants please let me know.
