Cane Beds and Grandpa Butch's Birthday

Saturday, April 16th -Sunday, April 17th, 2022

We drove down Saturday evening (Josh tagged along with us), and spent Sunday with the kids (actually Jake spent it with Rhian) and then celebrated Butch's birthday Sunday evening.

We spent some time with Walt before the party started; including going to the park.

Saturday night, the kids slept in Wes and Laura's house. The girls shared the room, and William and Wyatt slept on the couch. Jake and I used their Airbnb in their backyard. It was cute, and cozy.

The next morning, we got up, got the kids ready, and shortly after that Jake took off to go visit with Rhian and have some breakfast with him. I cooked the kids breakfast together with Laura. Then Sydney and Lizzy and Becca and Lorelei headed with Misty to go take care of the goats. The girls were really excited to see and hold the baby goats. William and Wyatt took off to go run around and play outside.

Finally I got a hold of Jake and told him I did not appreciate him leaving me without any transportation at his aunt and uncles house while he headed off to chat with Rhian.

So he came back around lunch time, where we met up with Walt to get some lunch at Article Circle. Then we headed to Cottonwood Park. I spent a couple hours running around the park with the kids, while Jake and Walt walked and talked. The kids had a ton of fun. There was a huge slide that was kind of scary in the beginning but they all enjoyed after the first couple times. Then there was this train track that went around the whole park that William followed, and we found out a train was hidden and locked away that would have used the track. Walt followed us back to Wes and Laura's house where we gave the kids their Christmas presents we brought with us. *apparently Walt was not allowed to be near the kids without permission from Wes and Laura since they were there legal guardians, since the kids got taken by CPS from Walt and Allison.
Unfortunately Misty pissed Walt off trying to get him to leave before the beans were spilt about the birthday party. So Jake had to try and smooth things over with his Dad before Walt left. Well to late Walt found out about the birthday party and that just blew things up.

*during the visit with Walt we had to keep concealed the whole reason we came to Cane Beds. Because Lyndsey didn't want to see her dad at Butch's birthday party, so everyone voted to not tell Walt at all. Jake of course hated this idea and fought it, but was out voted. Well it came back to bite everyone when Walt found out anyway, but nobody more than Jake. Because Jake talked to his dad more than anyone else at that party. It hurt there relationship for a couple months.

After Walt left we got ready and packed up and headed back into Colorado City to the building the party was being held in. Jake got to introduce Lyndsey and Josh to Keira and Lorelei and Wyatt for the first time. That was a very special moment to watch. We got to watch a video of pictures of Butch over the course of his life. The kids got to spend more time with Keira, Lorelei, and Wyatt. We got to each dinner. And I got to watch as Jake and Lyndsey and Rhian laughed with Butch. That made my heart happy. We only stuck around an hour, because we were headed home that night and didn't want to leave to late. *Lyndsey took Josh home, so they stayed for the whole party.

We got home pretty late. The kids all fell asleep. But I am glad we went.
