6 Months

Dear Sydney,

You are 6 months old today. You have become quite the talker. You love to eat everything. Every time anyone holding you has food you want a piece. It's so cute to have you watch every move we make.

You have a few firsts this past month:
1. your first tooth.
2. you had your first taste of prunes and didn't mind at all (which is understandable cause you'll eat anything)
3. your first Christmas
4. first New Years
5. you are able to give what resembles a hug
6. first time getting a cold

For your first tooth you haven't had much pain. During the time that you were sick you seemed to respond really well to Orajel to help calm you down. We also gave you Tylenol for a couple days. During the time you were sick to help get rid of your stuffy nose you started doing this thing where you would scrunch up your nose, blow, and then make a smiley face and stick out your tongue. It was so cute. Now that you don't have a cold anymore you don't do it and in a way it made me sad, but I was also happy you weren't sick anymore.
You also seem to love to bite anything. You love to bite me while I'm feeding you. So to help with the biting reflex you seem to have I am giving you these little puff sticks (kind of like puff Cheetos), you can take a chunk off one in a few munches...thank goodness they dissolve really easily.

Your first Christmas and New Years were really fun. For Christmas we spent the time with Grandma and Grandpa Mendoza. You were so completely spoiled. We then went up North to visit Grandma and Grandpa Arnold for New Years Eve, where you got even more Christmas presents. Watching you try and eat the wrapping paper was so cute. Daddy helped you unwrap all your presents and when he got all excited you looked at him really funny trying to figure out what the excitement was for. Then for New Years you slept most of the evening, but a little before midnight I woke you up, got you all bundled up and then at midnight we went out with the Harveys and banged pots and pans to celebrate the new year.
We also spent the first few days of 2012 in Vernal, UT with a couple of mommy and daddy's friends.

The last thing I'm really excited for is that you have started putting your head on my shoulders and putting your arms as far around me as they can go. You usually do it when I get out of bed in the morning and after your naps. But now you have started to do that whenever your excited about something. So now I'm starting to thank you for the hugs, trying to get you to associate the word hug with the action so in a few months I can start asking for them :) sneaky I know.

You are growing so much it amazes me. We both love you so much. I am also grateful for your routine, it makes my life so much easier knowing when your next nap is. You actually have a couple tell tell signs when you start to get tired. Under your eye starts to go red, you suck your right thumb (only when your tired, otherwise you prefer your left thumb), and you play with your ear.
We are so lucky that you are such a good baby.

Love,
    Mom
