William Turned 4!

Dearest William,

How are you this old already. 4 years has gone by since I gave birth to you and they have been years full of change, and excitement, and learning how to be a mom to a little boy who has more energy that either of his parents or his sisters combined.

You LOVE to play outside. Even in the winter time with snow on the ground you would sneak out barefooted to go play in my garden dirt. And since the weather has warmed up you have been outside almost everyday.

You have become picky with your food. You used to eat your entire plate of whatever I put in front of you and now you will eat bits and pieces of it, but never eat the whole meal. Which always leaves you hungry and shortly after whatever meal asking for a granola bar. You would eat a granola bar ten times a day if I let you.

You are finally potty trained. I kept telling daddy that before you turned four I wanted you potty trained. And one night in the beginning of February I forgot to put a pull up on you at bedtime. You woke the next morning and immediately went to the bathroom. After that they say the rest is history. You haven't worn a diaper since February 3rd!!! You've only wet the bed once or twice, which is awesome. Lately you've started coming up to me and saying "mom, my penis is hard" and I will reply "do you need to go pee" sometimes you say yes and sometimes no; if you say no then i say " stop playing with your penis" and just always say no. Silly boy.

You have developed quite a temper. When you are angry you start thrashing and throwing stuff. We are working on it. Talking to you about different ways to deal with your anger. But it's really hard to teach you anything you don't want to learn. Stinker. There are times when we put you in your room to give us a break from chasing your sisters around making them scream and cry and all the sudden hear crashes and bangs happening as you throw stuff in your room. So when you are reading this in the future...just know we are trying and hopefully are successful in teaching you better ways, but if you have a child doing this...just know it's the mom curse. ;)

You recently started wanting "showers" where you want me to get the shower head and hold it above your head while you rub the shampoo in to your hair and rinse it at the same time. You have become so proud of yourself for your "showers."

You still love to cuddle Daddy and I. Especially when you are tired. Some of Daddy's favorite moments with are cuddling in our bed with you and watching a movie as you fall asleep.

You love wrestle! With me, with Daddy, with Sydney and Lizzy. You love it. The girls not so much. I spend a lot of my dad running interference with you kiddos.

You are speaking in paragraphs. Your sentences are funny. And it is so great and funny to watch you connect things from around your world and share them with us.

You still have a huge problem with sharing your cars and trucks and trains. You and your sisters play together all the time, but while they willingly (not always) share there toys with you, you rarely share yours with them.

You LOVE the dogs. You love to lock Ukulele and Amber in your bedroom and play with them. You love to grab long leash-like objects and tie them to the dogs and drag them around the yard and house. Watching you play with Ukulele is both funny and painful. And we are constantly reminding you to be nice to the animals.

But after all is said and done. You are my William. My Buddy. My Bug. My snuggle buddy. My wild child. And Daddy and I love you so very much. We are so excited to watch you grow and learn and develop friendships and enjoy life to the fullest.

Love, Mom
